Renewing Your Mind - Part 2
Romans 12: 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Psalm 107:20 He sent His word and healed them and delivered them from their destructions.
Isaiah 55:10 “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater, 11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
James 1:16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. 18 Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.
Ephesians 4:22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints
Here we have the armour of God. You will notice that much of the armour is to protect us from the attacks of the enemy. Vs 17 tells us to take up the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God. This is what we actually fight with. We are soldiers and need to learn how to fight the good fight as Paul instructed Timothy.
Luke 4:1 Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry. 3 And the devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.” 4 But Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’ ” 5 Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. 7 Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.” 8 And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ” 9Then he brought Him to Jerusalem, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here. 10 For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you,’ 11 and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’ ” 12 And Jesus answered and said to him, “It has been said, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’ ” 13 Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time.
Note: Jesus spoke out the opposing scriptures to what the devil was speaking.

Renewing Your Mind - Part 1
2 Corinthians 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ
When we come to Jesus we come with ways of thinking, wrong thinking, wrong mindsets. Some of our ways of thinking have become strong. (strongholds)
Isaiah 55: 8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.
Amos 4:13 For behold, He who forms mountains, And creates the wind, Who declares to man what his thought is, And makes the morning darkness, Who treads the high places of the earth— The Lord God of hosts is His name.
Psalm 139:2 You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off.
God understands our thoughts afar off, what they will be before we think them, what they are when we do not regard them, what they have been when we have forgotten them.
Psalm 139:4 For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O Lord, You know it altogether. 5 You have hedged me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me.
There is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether. If the omniscience of God allows Him to know our thoughts even before they are developed in our mind, why should we think that He does not know our words even before they are formed by our tongues? No, Thou hast beset me behind and before. “Behind us there is God recording our sins, or in grace blotting out the remembrance of them; and before us there is God foreknowing all our deeds, and providing for all our wants. We cannot turn back and so escape Him, for He is behind; we cannot go forward and outmarch Him, for He is before”—Spurgeon.
Matthew 9:1 So He got into a boat, crossed over, and came to His own city. 2 Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.” 3 And at once some of the scribes said within themselves, “This Man blasphemes!” 4 But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts?
He charged them with it. Though they did but say it within themselves, he knew their thoughts. Note, Our Lord Jesus has the perfect knowledge of all that we say within ourselves. Thoughts are secret and sudden, yet naked and open before Christ, the eternal Word (Heb. 4:12, 13), and he understands them afar off, Ps. 139:2. He could say to them (which no mere man could), Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts? Note, There is a great deal of evil in sinful thoughts, which is very offensive to the Lord Jesus. He being the Sovereign of the heart, sinful thoughts invade his right, and disturb his possession; therefore he takes notice of them, and is much displeased with them. In them lies the root of bitterness, Gen. 6:5. The sins that begin and end in the heart, and go no further, are as dangerous as any other.
Genesis 6:5 Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Psalm 139:23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; 24 And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.
Jeremiah 17:9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? 10 I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
Questions
What does paul tell us to cast down?
Do you recognise any strongholds in your life?
Are you casting down every thought that is exalting itself against the knowledge of God?
Are your thoughts being brought into the obedience of Christ?
In Isaiah 55:9 What does God say about thoughts?
Who declares to man what his thoughts are? (Amos 4:13)
What does Psalm 139:2 say about our thoughts?
In Genesis 6:5 what is said about man's thoughts?
Do you believe that even our thoughts can be sin and are as dangerous as any other?
What is said about the heart and mind in Jeremiah 17:9?
What does the word of God do? (Hebrews 4:12)
We need to pray and ask God to show us where our thinking is against Him. We need Him to show us what strongholds we need to bring down with the weapons of our warfare.
See part two to learn how to do this. |

Introductions
Hi I am from Victoria, Australia. I live with two flatmates and a dog. I've been a Christian for about 10 years and I thank God for everything good in my life. He really is Jehovah Jirah, my provider. The Lord always works everything out.
I have Asperger's Syndrome (I'm an 'Aspie'). This means I have a lot of giftedness but also some difficulties communicating- I can take things too literally, get confused when more than one person is chatting and I can be a bit tactless- I'm not being a troll, I'm just learning.
(So if I only open my mouth to change feet- that's part of my job description! lol). Please be patient with me.
I like my wonderful church, gardening, playing musical instruments, dancing and homemaking. I love my neighbours and my community. And of course Jesus.

Footprints in the Sand
Psalm 85:13 Righteousness will go before Him, And shall make His footsteps our pathway.
This scripture made me think of the footprints poem in a different way. If we are walking in His footsteps, as one who walks in the steps of one who has gone previously along the beach, then there is only one set of footprints. However, it is only when we walk in the very footsteps of our Lord Jesus that we walk in righteousness.
Praise God! |

Being Accepted by God
Being Accepted by God
When you think of being accepted, what does that mean to you? Does it mean you fit in with the crowd? Does it mean those around you love and care about you? Have you ever thought of what accepted means? Being accepted means that you are to come as you are and be a part of that “something”. So being accepted by God means you come to Him as you are and ask Him to accept you into His family, for Him to adopt you, He cleansed you from your iniquities and He will never leave nor forsake you, you’re His child for all eternity. Did you know that you don’t belong to this world and that we won’t feel as though we belong, we feel as outcasts or as though we’re invisible to the world. The world may not care about us but God does and He will always be there for us and He always hears our prayers. Of course He has His people or children to fellowship with other believers who do care about you, there are people who care about us and we need to do the same for others. 1peter 2:4-5 say v4 “As you come to Him, the living stone, rejected by human beings but chosen by God and precious to Him. v5 you also like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God though Jesus Christ.” Peter goes on to say in 1peter 2:9-10 v9 “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light. v10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God, once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” So lets try not to be so concerned of what other people around us think or when others put us down. Just remember that the Lord thinks we are so special to Him, like the most precious jewel. He thinks you are worthy for Him. Lets look at what 1 john has to say about being God’s children in 1 john 3:1-3 v1” See what great love the Father lavished on us, that we should be children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him. v2 Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has yet been made known, but we know that when Christ appears we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He sees us. v3 All who have this hope in Him purify themselves, just as He is pure.” In john 12:25 He says “Those who love their life will lose it, while those who hate thier life in this world will keep it for eternal life. As you read in 1 peter 2:4-5, Also says in Isaiah 53:1-12. That even Jesus was rejected; the people rejected Him to death on the cross. And Jesus was also despised besides being rejected by others. Of course the cross was His Fathers will to have eternal life with Him. Isaiah says in Isaiah 53:1-12
v1. “Who has believed out message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? v2. He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to Him, nothing in His appearance that we should desire Him. v3. For He was despised and rejected by others, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain, Like one from whom people hide their faces He was despised, and we held him in low esteem. v4. Surely He took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we consider Him punished by God, stricken by Him, and afflicted. v5. But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed. v6. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. v7. He was oppress and afflicted, yet He did not open His mouth; He was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before it’s shearers is silent so He did not open His mouth. v8. By oppression and judgment He was then taken away. Yet who of His generation protested? For, He was cut off from the land of the living. v9. For He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in His death, though He had done no violence, nor any deceit in His mouth. v10. Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush Him and cause Him to suffer, and though the Lord makes His life an offering for sin, He will see His offspring and prolong His days, and the will of the Lord will prosper in His hand. v11. After He has suffered, the Lord will see the light of life and be satisfied by His knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and He will bear my iniquities. v12. Therefore, I will give Him a portion among the great, and the will divide the spoils with the strong.”
Because He poured out His life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For He bore the sin of many and made intercession for the transgressors.” Jesus went through the most brutel suffering known to man for “you” because He loved “you” so much and He wanted “you” to accept Him into your life, when you do that you will be adopted into the family of God and you will be rich, you will be a prince/princesses and He is the king, we are also the church and His is the bridegroom. See how much Jesus suffered and was rejected? The Lord of the universe and His own people rejected and despised Him. He did this all so that you’d be accepted in Heaven to live with Jesus. I don’t think anyone has ever loved me the way my Jesus, my Heavenly Father loves me, He is our Abba Father, our daddy, and He loves us with agape love-unconditional love. We should take up our crosses daily and follow Him, we are His followers, and wherever He leads I’ll go. Like the song says, “Wherever He leads I’ll go”. v1. “Take up thy cross and follow me”, I heard my Master say, “I gave my life to ransom thee, surrender you’re all today.” Wherever He leads I’ll go, wherever He leads I’ll go, I’ll follow my Christ who loves me so, wherever He leads I’ll go. v2. He drew me closer to His side, I sought His will to know, and in that will I now abide, wherever He leads I’ll go, wherever He leads I’ll go, wherever He leads I’ll go, I’ll follow my Christ who loves me so, wherever He leads I’ll go. v3. It may be thro’ the shadows dim, or o’er the stormy sea, I take my cross and follow Him, wherever He leads I’ll go. Wherever He leads I’ll go, wherever He leads I’ll go, I’ll follow my Christ who loves me so, wherever He leads I’ll go. As I went to the hymnal to look up the page for the words to this song, I opened it right up to the song; my finger was on the song! I guess the Lord wanted me to use this song here in this writing. So you may be sitting there questioning why would someone do this act of grace for you? The answer is very simple; because He loves us so much! There is an invitation hymn that I like called “I have decided, to follow Jesus” v1. “I have decided, to follow Jesus, I have decided to follow Jesus, I have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back, no turning back. v2. The world behind me, the cross before me, the world behind me the cross before me, the world behind me, the cross before me, no turning back, no turning back. v3. Tho none go with me still I will follow, tho none go with me still I will follow, tho none go with me still I will follow, no turning back, no turning back. v4. My cross I’ll carry, til I see Jesus, my cross I’ll carry, til I see Jesus, my cross I’ll carry, til I see Jesus, no turning back, no turning back.” So It is your choice, Have “YOU” decided to follow Jesus? Amen |

Take Seriously
Luke 12:39 But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. 40 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”
Knowledge of the time would lead to vigilance. But since the time is not known, constant readiness is essential.
Luke 12:41 Then Peter said to Him, “Lord, do You speak this parable only to us, or to all people?” 42 And the Lord said, “Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his master will make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season? 43 Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. 44 Truly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all that he has. 45 But if that servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’ and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and be drunk, ?46? the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. 47 And that servant who knew his master’s will, and did not prepare himself or do according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. 48 But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more.
Jesus described a variety of categories of servants. Several responses from faithfulness to blatant disobedience are described in this passage.
The issue is who lives life in a way that looks for, and takes seriously, the return of Jesus.
1 John 2:28 And now, little children, abide (live, remain permanently) in Him, so that when He is made visible, we may have and enjoy perfect confidence (boldness, assurance) and not be ashamed and shrink from Him at His coming.
2 Corinthians 13:14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.
May we live and remain permanently in fellowship with Him so we will not be ashamed at His coming. May we be always ready for His return, taking seriously His return. Let not the things of this world distract you. Keep your eyes fixed on the eternal.
John 8:31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
Abide means to remain, to continue. A believer who continues to obey the Word is a disciple, a learner.
One who abides in the Word of God knows the truth.
Obedience to the Lord means fellowship with Him, protection from sin and experiencing His love.
To remain in constant fellowship with Him is to live a life of obedience
While reading John 12 I came across another cross reference to 1 John 2:28.
John 12:42 Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue; 43 for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
These men were genuine believers. Their problem was that they feared the opinions of fellow leaders. Such believers will be ashamed at Christ's return.
May we not fear the opinions of others.
I came across something more in regards to Luke 12.
46 the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.
The note in my study bible under these verses says..
Unbelievers are those who did not take seriously the consequences of judgement.
2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. |

Defied
Defied - To refuse to submit to or cooperate with, to be unaffected by; resist or withstand.
Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
2 Samuel 23:8 These are the names of the mighty men whom David had: Josheb-Basshebeth the Tachmonite, chief among the captains. He was called Adino the Eznite, because he had killed eight hundred men at one time. 9 And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David when they defied the Philistines who were gathered there for battle, and the men of Israel had retreated. 10 He arose and attacked the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand stuck to the sword. The Lord brought about a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to plunder.
Eleazar defied the Philistines, as they by Goliath, had defied Israel, but with better success and greater bravery; for when the men of Israel had gone away, he not only kept his ground, but arose, and smote the Philistines, on whom God struck a terror equal to the courage with which this great hero was inspired. His hand was weary, and yet it clave to his sword; as long as he had any strength remaining he held his weapon and followed his blow. Thus, in the service of God, we should keep up the willingness and resolution of the spirit, notwithstanding the weakness and weariness of the flesh—faint, yet pursuing (Jdg. 8:4), the hand weary, yet not quitting the sword.
Not quitting the sword, holding onto our sword which is the word of God and fighting the good fight.
Judges 8:4 Gideon then crossed the Jordan River with his 300 men, and though exhausted, they continued to chase the enemy.
It's a battle and sometimes we are exhausted but we must continue in our walk using the sword of the Spirit and defying the enemy. Choosing not to co-operate with him, refusing to submit to him.
Colossians 2:13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, 14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. |

Footprints in the Sand
Footprints in the Sand
One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was one only.
This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord,
“You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?”
The Lord replied, “The years when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you.”

Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. |

Justice Follows Truth
Jesus is valiant in battle.
To be valiant is to be courageous and determined. Are we determined to defend the word of truth no matter the cost?
Jeremiah 9:3 “And like their bow they have bent their tongues for lies. They are not valiant for the truth on the earth. For they proceed from evil to evil, And they do not know Me,” says the Lord.
Go into their solemn meetings for the exercises of religion, for the administration of justice, or for commerce—to church, to court, or to the exchange—and they are an assembly of treacherous men; they are so by consent, they strengthen one another’s hands in doing any thing that is perfidious. There they will cheat deliberately and industriously, with design, with a malicious design, for (v. 3) they bend their tongues, like their bow, for lies, with a great deal of craft; their tongues are fitted for lying, as a bow that is bent is for shooting, and are as constantly used for that purpose. Their tongue turns as naturally to a lie as the bow to the strong. But they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth. Their tongues are like a bow strung, with which they might do good service if they would use the art and resolution which they are so much masters of in the cause of truth; but they will not do so. They appear not in defence of the truths of God, which were delivered to them by the prophets; but even those that could not deny them to be truths were content to see them run down. In the administration of justice they have not courage to stand by an honest cause that has truth on its side, if greatness and power be on the other side. Those that will be faithful to the truth must be valiant for it, and not be daunted by the opposition given to it, nor fear the face of man. They are not valiant for the truth in the land, the land which has truth for the glory of it. Truth has fallen in the land, and they dare not lend a hand to help it up, Isa. 59:14, 15. We must answer, another day, not only for our enmity in opposing truth, but for our cowardice in defending it.
Isaiah 59:14 Justice is turned back, And righteousness stands afar off; For truth is fallen in the street, And equity cannot enter. 15 So truth fails, And he who departs from evil makes himself a prey.
Every time we speak and defend the word of truth (James 1:18) we are establishing justice. Justice follows truth.
Jeremiah 9: 23 Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, Let not the mighty man glory in his might, Nor let the rich man glory in his riches; 24 But let him who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me, That I am the Lord, exercising loving kindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight,” says the Lord.
We must not deviate from the truth.
Joshua 1:7 Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. 8 Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. (New Living)
It’s interesting to note how God told Joshua to be strong and courageous to not deviate from the word of truth.
The success we will have when we meditate on God's word day and night is that we will not deviate from it. We will be kept from deception. We will have what we need for the battle against our enemy. This is true success.
If it’s not in the word of God reject it.
If it doesn’t represent who God is reject it. |
